Jonah arrived after the studio closed, carrying dance shoes he no longer wore onstage. The scar along his side had become public property after the accident: photographed, discussed and reduced to a story he had not chosen.
Rhea loaded one roll of film and set the cable release between them. “You decide every frame,” she said. The first exposure held only his silhouette. The second caught his hand reaching toward hers. By the third, neither of them was looking at the camera.
